MeMe Detroit - 'De Moe'
A familiar name to those in the know on the UK Alternative Scene, MeMe Detroit (Birmingham singer/multi-instrumentalist Maria Rodriguez) first made a name for herself with her 2016 debut Live To Love You’ll Love To Live, which teetered between blues & grunge influences. Subsequent releases have seen the fairly prolific MeMe Detroit fall comfortably into her stride, with the backing of a formidable rhythm section making for a winning power trio formula.
Her incendiary new single 'De Moe', explodes into a rumbling bass riff over which some gorgeously moody chords are suspended. Incandescent in energy, the track, is inspired 'by negativity' as a result of 'how society has moulded us' is ablaze with attitude, as MeMe Detroit's smokey vocals stoke the embers of misery.
Gritty, and fierce this lead track taken from the forthcoming EP 'Life in the Now' holds much promise for lovers of scuzzy guitar driven rock.
