Duck - Lip on the Floor
Sheffield is arguably the ancestral home of British synthesizer music (having given the world groups like the The Human League and Heaven 17), I’d been doing some trawling online to see what the electronic scene is like in the steel city these days which led me to come across Duck.
I think the best way I can describe Duck’s sound is “Lo-Fi-Electronic-Garage-Punk” (I know right) and if that hasn’t turned your head I dare say there’s a bit of a Noise-Pop influence at work too; Its equal parts fuzz and synth with guitarist/singer Sarah Griffiths boisterous vocals cutting over a cacophony of thumping drum machine powered scuzz.
